NCC Caravan Service Award

NCC Caravan Service Engineering Award is seen as the minimum industry standard that a technician should hold to demonstrate their competence to carry out a caravan and/or motorhome service.

The award is comprised of two assessments: an online theory assessment that underpins the technician’s understanding of their everyday practical work, which is then demonstrated in a practical assessment.

The online theory assessment is a multiple choice exam.  Candidates log into their own online account to take the assessment, which is accessible from most devices.  The practical assessment is a four hour, observed caravan service which is completed at one of our approved assessment centres.  We do also offer on-site practical assessments - please ask for details.

Applications can be made directly online to the right of this page.  Please ensure you select the correct Award; Combined is for both Motorhome and Touring Caravan assessments, whereas the Motorhome Award is for Motorhome assessments only.

Candidates will receive self-study material once payment have been made in full.

Please note this is an assessment based programme, not a training course. You must be able to perform a full service, without the aid of the service technicians handbook or a service schedule. please do not book this course if you are not confident in servicing. You need to complete electrics & gas training first.

Why take the assessment?

The assessment provides evidence to both an employer and their customers that a service technician is competent and performs to a recognised standard of work.  The syllabus follows the minimum service that should be carried out on a touring caravan or motorhome, according to industry best practice.  Achieving the award demonstrates commitment to ensuring that work carried out meets customers’ increasing expectations.  The Award is a requirement of the Approved Workshop Scheme.

What is involved?

The qualification consists of a practical observation of a service being carried out at one of our approved assessment centres (unless agreed for an on-site assessment) and a multiple choice online exam to make sure that candidates understand the theory behind industry standards.  Modules include gas, electricity, health & safety, damp testing and other topics.

Both the practical and the written assessments examine the candidate on their knowledge, the competence of their everyday work and conformity to health & safety requirements.

What happens when I pass the assessment?

Having achieved a successful pass in both parts of the assessment, the candidate will receive the NCC Caravan Service Engineering Award in either Motorhome or Combined achievements.  These awards are fully compliant with the AWS scheme requirements.
